GOD’S CHOICE
FOCAL VERSE
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”
I Peter 2:9 NKJV
GOD’S CHOICE
DEEP REFLECTION
There is an assurance of salvation, which feeds into the assurance of hope that gives us trust, which in turn gives us our confidence, purpose, and motive for successful living. This assurance is our certainty that we are saved when we accept or receive Christ Jesus as our Lord and saviour. However, we receive it only as an act of undeserving grace that we cannot get on our own by merit or birthright. The Holy Spirit gives us testimony and empowers us; we are then to receive our faith and persevere in it.
Now, what we have done before coming to Christ Jesus is always a closed chapter. His word: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”- 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT. What the Apostle Paul outlines in the above scripture is the evidence of who we are in Christ.
Christ Jesus does not deal with us with our past stories but rather gives us a new page..We all have times in life when we feel lost or down about ourselves. Sometimes, negative voices in the world and that of the enemy seem to speak louder than the voice of God. Albeit, we have a blessed assurance we are a chosen race and nothing can take that away.
The Apostle Peter affirms this at 1 Peter 2:9 – teaches us that We are a chosen race, in the sense that, in Christ, we share a single spiritual Father. In that we are a “holy nation,” a specific group of people called out and set apart from all other nations.Christians, together, are a royal priesthood. We constantly need to be reminded of who Christ says we are and our identity in Him. In Israel, under the Law, one tribe was given the task of serving as priests, performing the duties of mediators between God and the rest of the nation. Very few held the honor and responsibility of actually coming into God’s presence. But in and through Christ, the King, all believers are priests with direct access to our Father. We need no other mediator.
Finally, God has formed this nation, this race, this priesthood to take possession of us. We are His people in a very real way. It’s not just that we pledge our allegiance to Him; it’s that He has taken ownership of us. We belong to Him. We are his choice, weapon and agents of gross changes across all fronts. Do not look down on yourself wherever you might find yourself. We have a God who backs and watches over you. We belong to HIM and HIM alone.
SOUL PRAYER
Dear God, thank You for the gift of salvation through Christ Jesus. Help me live a life of a victor and not one of someone who is defeated. Order my steps in my day to day affairs and all tiers, Amen.
INTENTIONAL EXERCISE
He has made us to declare His praises. That’s more than just a natural response to our Father’s mercy or something we should do to be polite. Declaring God’s greatness is one reason for our very existence. When we praise Him, we fulfill our purpose. He has called us out of the darkness of a meaningless life, and an eternity apart from Him, and into His wonderful, marvelous light. Because we belong to Him, we belong in His light.
