THE FRUIT OF LIGHT.

FOCAL VERSE:

”For the fruit (the effect, the product) of the Light or the Spirit [consists] in every form of kindly goodness, uprightness of heart, and trueness of life.“ Ephesians 5:9 AMPC

DEEP REFLECTION:

Instinctively, you cannot be who you are not. Your daily expression qualifies your inherent make up. Meaning, you produce what you carry.

Given that you identify as light, you are also a member of the family of light. You were born into a family of light and have been immersed in light. Your Father is the Father of lights (James 1:17); and He lives in unapproachable light (1 Timothy 6:16). Most assuredly, living  in light and walking in it is already your nature.

True enough! That is your new nature—you are light in the Lord. In view of this, it’s best to live in accordance with your nature. Yes, live a life of order and light. It is our divine community that is true life, and true light!(1 John 1:6).

Enlightenment, or the state of being free from ignorance and false information, can be applied to those who are of the light. Therefore, it is our responsibility to lead consistent lives based on accurate knowledge and information; otherwise, we risk living a falsehood and becoming uneducated.

The first stage is to eradicate all ignorance and misleading information, which are regarded as darkness. Now, when we remain in the light, we commune with the manifestations of the light, which are all goodness, truth, and righteousness, and endeavor to understand what the Lord is pleased with.

When we act in a way that is in line with goodness, righteousness, and the truth while constantly attempting to understand what the Lord would have us do, we can be sure we are in the light.

Precisely, this is the work of the light, the Holy Spirit (Philippians 2:13). He causes a change in our perspectives (the way we think) thus, from darkness to light. Gracefully, when we live consistently with the light, our eyes are opened to see the fruit of light. This will in turn make it effortless first to embrace the Lord’s will followed by doing what the He commands us to accomplish in this life day by day. 

Beloved, always be reminded that people will certainly judge you by the fruit you produce. Thereby, allow the light to shine on you if you are indeed a child of light. Live consistently with the light and let the light’s labor (fruit) be seen in you daily.

SOUL PRAYER:

Holy Spirit, I am surrendered to you. Do your work in me and produce your fruit of light in my life!

INTENTIONAL EXERCISE:

Make a list of things not consistent with your nature as a child of light and then expose them to the Light.

READING PLAN:

MONDAY: Ephesians 5:9

– Meditate on the fruits/effects of light (goodness,righteousness, and truth).

TUESDAY: Ephesians 5:13

– Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the things in your life that don’t align with the fruits of light.

WEDNESDAY: Ephesians 5:10

– For any action or inaction you take today, quietly ask within you if, it pleases the Lord.

THURSDAY: Ephesians 5:15

– Check the quality of people you attract and the company of friends you keep in your life.

FRIDAY: Ephesians 5:17

– Rehearse this “ I am not ignorant, I am enlightened to understand the Lord’s will”.
