DAY 7
HIS PERFECT PATIENCE.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
1 Corinthians 13: 4 NIV
Partnership with the Holy Spirit.
DEEP REFLECTION :
Have you ever been in a position where you texted a friend who was actively online but you sat down for hours and it seemed your moment of waiting grew into impatience? Or have you been in any situation where your friend said something very mean to you that you almost or definitely blew up?
Being patient is the capacity to maintain your composure both inwardly and externally while you are upset, agitated or annoyed. Patience is an attribute of Love. Which means without Love; you cannot be patient, neither can you be kind nor forgive and honor God. Patience allows you to endure, tolerate, remain calm and avoid unnecessary arguments.
But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. (1 Timothy 1: 16)
This text shows that everyone (even the worst sinner) has the ability to be patient. The Holy Spirit works in us to produce patience. Patience leads us not to respond in our flesh. Therefore, we need to allow the Holy Spirit to temper us so that we can process an appropriate way to respond to the behaviors of others.
I encourage us to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit to say "help me, direct me, order my steps and lead me."
However, in order to enjoy the Fruit of being Patient, always remember to lean on the Holy Spirit and obey his guidance because your ability to be patient must always honor God.
SOUL PRAYER :
Dear God, I surrender my will to your leading, your guidance and your direction as you influence me today. Please help me to allow you to control and temper me so that I can exhibit patience in my actions and inactions.
In Jesus name. Amen
INTENTIONAL EXERCISE :
If you ever find yourself in any situation that requires you to be impatient, acknowledge your thoughts and feelings to both the Holy Spirit and yourself; pursue understanding of what is going on within you and your environment then, surrender your thoughts, feelings, and desires to the Holy Spirit. Always seek guidance from the Holy Spirit.
