THE LIGHT THAT GIVES LIGHT
FOCAL VERSE:
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the
darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5 NIV
DEEP REFLECTION:
Life in Greek is termed as Zoe which has its root word as Zoa. Let us try to understand the essence of life by these terms.
Zoe: Real life, vital power, full of vigor, absolute fullness of life belonging to God.
Zoa: State of vitality distinguishing the living, capacity to live and develop.
Zoa establishes the definition of general essence of life which is characterized by every human being. However, in Zoe we see something higher – It is defined as the real life, having vital power with absolute fullness of life belonging to God. In other words, it is a real and genuine life, active and vigorous in nature. It is a blessed life. It is eternal and ascribed to God! This is the kind of life our text communicates to us; the God kind of Life!
Such a Life! So great and marvelous in nature! It comes to open our eyes to true life - ordained in God for every man to walk in. By being invited into the Life we are exposed to realms of solemnities in God. We behold a higher life which illuminates our understanding to life (Zoa) and its living or expression. This life is everlasting; it is eternal therefore, whatever it births remains. As we learn of this life, and contemplate upon it, we receive of the wisdom of the life (Zoe) which is light for our life (Zoa)! It is of this Life (Zoe) that we have light (illumination) to live. Jesus is the Life (John 14:6), and this life is the truth to life, it reveals to us how to live life, it is the light of life (Zoa).
On what premise of life are you living on? Do you have the life of God yet? It is possible for you to receive of this life (Zoe). Jesus Christ is the Life – Zoe, the God kind of life (Zoa). He died in our place that we should have life in his resurrection and live in and for him. (John 3:16, 2 Cor 5:15 & Acts 17:28). He is God's answer to deliver all men out of the great darkness upon the earth; that the life of men will be illuminated!
You can have it too. That is, if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” (Romans 10:9-11).
Now in him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28), it is in this same Jesus that light indwells. You have been plunged into light. Hallelujah to God. In this life is Light. No more darkness. Look to the light and stay in the light. This light cannot be overcome by the darkness!
If Romans 9:10 is your reality today, I welcome you to the Life that gives Light! You're now part of the family of light; the saints in light. (Col 1:12.). Rejoice for you light has come!
SOUL PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the Life in Christ Jesus. Thank you for making me a member of the family of light in Christ Jesus through this Life.
INTENTIONAL EXERCISE:
Be intentional in your thanksgiving and meditations, recognize that you are not ordinary! You are a member of the family of light; saints in light!
