UNDERSTANDING THE LIGHT OF LIFE.

FOCAL VERSE:
”The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. “ - John 1:4-9 NLT
DEEP REFLECTION:
The concept of light in the Bible is profound and multifaceted. In John 1:4-9, we encounter Jesus as the Light of Life, illuminating both our physical existence and our spiritual journey. Just as physical light dispels darkness, Jesus, as the Light of Life, dispels the darkness of sin and brings clarity, purpose, and abundant life.
Reflect deeply on the nature of light itself.
Light is not just an absence of darkness but a tangible force that reveals truth, exposes hidden things, and brings life to all it touches. Consider how Jesus, as the Light of Life, does the same in our lives. His light reveals the truth of who we are; exposing our sins and shortcomings - yet also offering forgiveness, redemption, and a pathway to transformation.
Take a pause and think about the moments in your life when you have felt enveloped by darkness, when confusion, doubt, or despair threatened to overwhelm you.
How has Jesus, as the Light of Life, broken through that darkness, bringing hope, peace, and renewed purpose? Reflect on specific instances where His light has guided you, protected you or provided clarity in the midst of uncertainty.
But remember, walking in the light also requires a willingness to confront the darkness within ourselves. Take time to honestly assess areas of your life where darkness still holds sway – whether it be sinful habits, unhealthy patterns of thinking, or unresolved hurts and bitterness. Invite Jesus, the Light of Life, into those areas, trusting in His power to bring healing, restoration, and freedom.
As you journey through this week, let the Light of Life illuminate your path, drawing you closer to God and empowering you to live boldly as a beacon of His light in a world desperately in need of hope and truth.
SOUL PRAYER:
Lord, be my light in darkness, bring healing to my soul. Guide me to shine Your light, in a world in need of hope. Amen.
