DAY 9

His Goodness.

FOCAL VERSE :
Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,

1 Timothy 6:18 NKJV

Partnership with the Holy Spirit.

DEEP REFLECTION :

The preceeding form of goodness to humanity is the love gift offering: Christ Jesus. He willingly came to set the captives free; liberate the bound and save souls from the claws of Satan. After He was done with His assignment here on earth; He did not leave us hanging but sent the Holy Spirit to aid us to do this life. Oh! what a sweet form of goodness. He foreknew that we could not handle the pressures, trials and temptations of life thus, the comforter and guide — the Holy Spirit, was made available to all who believed in Him.

The Holy Spirit, as we have been made aware of from our previous days of reflection, offers us His fruit —which is the nature that aids us to live life in a Christ-like manner. Now, for a person to willingly offer so much for another individual; there is a clear indication that the the heart posture it operates with is goodness.

The Apostle Paul in his letter to Timothy and the saints emphasised the need to serve willingly and not by compulsion. The more willing you are to serve, the easier you portray genuineness.

Goodness is not about doing elaborate things to gain recognition or rewarded overtime. Rather, it is genuine actions and inactions. It is not something we do only for the sake of being virtuous. The life of Jesus Christ is the perfect example of goodness. He willingly offered himself to be crucified for the sins of humanity to attain the gift of salvation and eternal life. His ministry and sacrifice is the best example of God’s goodness towards mankind. After all, the term “gospel” means “good news.”

Goodness is the rightly-ordered motivation behind our desire to act well. It prioritizes what God desires: love of others, rightness, justice, and mercy. It is the ability emanate integrity, honesty and moral virtues in kindness. It also includes the choice to stand by what is right even when you can choose compromise.

Is someone putting you down? —Pray and engage them amicable!
Is it within your means to help a mean colleague? — Do it!
Do you have extra items or beautiful clothes you no longer wear?Offer them to an orphanage or the needy!
It takes grace to be able to exhibit goodness without any expectations. It is out of a genuine heart, that you would be able to help or choose to be good when you have the opportunity and every right to repay evil with evil. Therefore, learn to extend goodness to all around you to encourage others to do same.

It is in these acts of goodness that we reflect Christ’s character and possess the fruit of the Spirit. While it may seem like no one notices, God does. Ultimately, when we show goodness, we bring glory to God’s name.

SOUL PRAYER :

Lord, you are good. In all things, at all times even when we do not understand; God, you are good. Remind me O my Father, that though I am called to be good; it is your goodness that has saved my soul. Therefore, I can only be good by Your divine help. I have no power of my own, help me Lord to be good today and always. In Jesus name. Amen.

INTENTIONAL EXERCISE :

Spend time quality with people around you if possible. If it within your means, ask how you can be of genuine help. Furthermore, decide to take the right decisions and stand for truth even when it is hard.

Hey Beautiful Soul, we would love to hear from you.
