IN AND OUT OF SEASON
Focal Text: Genesis 1
Genesis chapter 1:1 says, “in the beginning God…” take a moment to think about this. In the beginning of everything, God existed. Before we were born, God existed. Before good and bad circumstances, God was present.

It is more understanding to bask in the aura of good and beautiful things when they happen. It usually calls for happiness, gratitude, joy and all we could ever think of doing when something we were expecting goes through or sometimes, we were just not expecting.
However, when we encounter messy situations, we often times lose focus on how grateful we are to be. Instead, we capitalize on the sorrow, sadness and hurt emotions.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”@growcode_initiative
The word of God teaches us that, thanksgiving is one of the greatest weapon and we should thank the Lord in all circumstances. Whether good or bad, happy or sad. We don’t need to only give thanks and show gratitude to God only in good circumstances (some circumstances). Thanksgiving even in messy situations is one of the highest forms of our trust in the Lord. It is choosing to say, “God, I know this isn’t good, but I trust your leadings for my life”. That does not mean God allows bad things to happen to us, No, that’s not what I am saying.

Further, In Jeremiah 29:11, the word of God makes it clear “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Often times, a “No” from God isn’t to harm us or take away good things from us. A ‘No’ from God is a redirection and God’s best choice for us. It is okay to take a minute and bask in that aura of sadness when something we’ve longed for doesn’t go our way, when we lose a loved one, and many more. In all these, never cease the greatest weapon at your disposal, “thanksgiving”.
SOUL PRAYER :
Dear Lord, I thank you for all you do and continually do. I am much grateful for all the circumstances being it good and bad. Please forgive me for the times I failed to trust you because I was wallowing in unfortunate circumstances. I come with fragrance of gratitude at your feet to say thank you Lord. Amen.
INTENTIONAL EXERCISE :
Take a moment, analyze all the good and bad situations you encountered this year. Make it a point to appreciate God for all of them.
