His Choice Verses My Choice

FOCAL VERSE

“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand” – Proverbs 19:21
His Choice Verses My Choice

DEEP REFLECTION

Choice is the ability to choose between many alternatives. Have you ever been caught up in a situation where you had to make a difficult choice between one that aligns with the will of God and the other which had to do with your own desires?

Often times we are torn between choosing our will against the will of God for our lives in a particular situation or circumstance. God freely gives unto us the opportunity to choose which path we will want to follow, either his or ours.

This means that, he doesn’t force us to follow him or choose his will. Rather, he graciously welcomes all who choose to fulfill the purpose he has called us to fulfill.

A perfect example is the story of Cain and Abel. While Abel gave God his best as commanded by God, Cain decided to give God anything that he desired. We saw how God blessed Abel and cursed Cain. That is a clear example of Choices.

Whenever we are in alignment with the will of God for our lives, we are blessed, we lead, we are favored but when we allow our own choices to overpower the will of God for our lives, we become anything aside the perfect example of Christ. We become broken, bitter and jealous.

In Jeremiah 29:11 it reads, For I know the plans I have for you, “declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”

Don’t you think Gods plan outweighs ours? If the one who created you says he has plans for you, plans to give you a perfect end, don’t you think it is the best?

It is believable to say there’re moments where we made our own desires and choices lead us because we might have lacked self-control, or we couldn’t hear clearly what God wanted us to do in that event. Yeah, I have been in that situation too. But in it all, we have a merciful God whose arms are wide open to receive us when we fall short. He’s ever ready to give us an expected end and it doesn’t matter how long we’ve been caught up in our own choices.

God communicates his perfect will and choice for us when we align in his will through prayers, having quality time with Him in the Word and obeying the instructions of the Holy Spirit.

SOUL PRAYER

Dear Lord, I subject myself to the leadings of your perfect will for my life. On this day, I take a bold step to follow you and love that which you love and dislike that which you dislike. I make a choice to follow you this day, so please help me, Amen.
