HIDDEN IN CHRIST JESUS

FOCAL VERSE

But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

DEEP REFLECTION

In the Land of Bethany, there was a young man who lived with his family. It was one happy and loving family that lived in a small house close to the sea. Unfortunately, it rained heavy one night and swept away all they had leaving them with nothing. The once upon happy family now had nowhere to go than to run under a BIG TREE for shield and protection from the storms and heavy rain. The BIG TREE was their trusting place (hiding place).

Life isn’t any different from the experience of this family but your hiding place (trust in God) in the midst of the storm, adversity, worry, doubt and even happy and joyous moments are the most important.

There’s only one reason we run to a place to hide, and that is because we trust to be saved, secured and protected.

From Proverbs 29:25: “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe”. Here, the author was outlining how good it is to trust in God and not man. Whenever we put our trust in God he saves us not only from physical adversity but also emotional trauma, compromising of moral values, enlightens us and many others. This is to say, God is interested in all facets of our lives.

Have there been moments where you were really trusting God for something that never happened and felt like, “God can you hear me?” “God are you there?”God’s “No” is always to redirect us and protect us. Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding”.

There was a couple who lived and served God faithfully. They lived upright and lived according to God’s will. On one fateful day when the man had stepped out for soul winning, he came back and saw his wife lying on the floor with no life in her. What a misfortune? She was gone. The man cried out to God several hours, days and months, yet his wife was gone. Then, God looked at him and said, “My Son, she needs to come home.” All the man could say was, “Father, I trust you”.

We should put our trust in God not only when the situation or outcome suits us. Even in hard and difficult outcomes, we must learn to trust and hide in his safe abode. Whenever we put our trust in God, we’re hidden in him, we’re protected, we’re saved and we become confident in him alone.
