HOPELESS, YET TRUSTING IN GOD

FOCAL VERSE

But whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring which will provide him with life-giving water and give him eternal life.

John 4:14

DEEP REFLECTION

Many a centuries gone by, there was a woman, Hagar who lived in the wilderness because her master sent her away. How she lost her job and ended up in the wilderness was a soul piercing situation. Due to her Madam’s inability to bear a child for her husband, Abraham, Sarah offered Hagar to bear a child for her husband. In the Bible, we learn that Abraham and his wife, after being successful in childbearing, harmlessly drove Hagar out of their household. Hagar in the wilderness cried out to God when all hope was lost, and God answered her. When the food and water Hagar had been given ran out, so did her hope.

Just like in the story of Hagar, most of us have run out of hope in the journey of life. It is okay to say we might have never gotten to the point of desperation that Hagar reached, but we might have witnessed times when we looked into the future with the same hopelessness, despair and fear.

Amidst the hopelessness in every situation, there is a God who sees, a God who hears our cry and a God who will point us to our source of Living Water which will satisfy all our needs, if only amidst the hopeless situation we can have a little trust in the Lord. God never promised a smooth and easy-going life (soft life) but He does promise us of his strength, his provision, care and love, and to give us an excellent expected end. Whenever life tries to backlash you, prove to life you have a prayer answering God like Hagar. It is too early to give up dear, your ability to trust in God is one of your greatest weapons. You can be hopeless in the circumstances life throws at you, yet you can decide that your trust in the Lord will be unshaken and unmovable.

Just like our sins do not separate us from the Love of God, so should your circumstance not separate you from trusting in God.

Hey beautiful soul, I don’t know what circumstance you’re in, but I want to encourage you, don’t let go your trust in the Lord. He will supply all your needs, desires, wipe away all your tears, according to His riches in glory.

SOUL PRAYER

Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I thank you for the ability to trust you. Please continue to help and teach me to trust you even in unfavorable and difficult situations. On this day, I declare my trust in you alone, this I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

INTENTIONAL EXERCISE

Decide to be much more intentional about trusting in every utterance from the Holy Spirit today. First, believe in your heart and in your mind that you have the mind of the Holy Spirit. Go out with your shoulders up high trusting in the Lord.
