The Power of Journaling

This next 6 weeks (12th May – 21st June) is all about understanding why journaling matters. We explore how putting pen to paper can open your heart to healing, clarity, and deeper connection with God and self.
FOCAL VERSE:
• Habakkuk 2:2 – “Write the vision and make it plain…”
SOUL PROMPT:
What am I afraid to write, and why?
Pointer: Often, the very words we hold back are the ones that can bring the most healing. This week, reflect on the resistance. What truth are you afraid might come out? And what might God want to do with that?
DEEP REFLECTION:
Journaling isn’t just for processing thoughts—it’s for listening to your soul and meeting God on paper. The pen becomes a bridge, helping you name what you didn’t know you were carrying. It is both mirror and altar. It slows you down long enough to feel, to face, to be found. That’s the power of journaling: it’s the practice of showing up for yourself and making space for God to speak in return.
SOUL PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, teach me to listen to my soul without fear. Help me show up on paper with honesty, even when it’s messy. May every word I write lead me back to You. Let journaling become a sacred rhythm where my thoughts are held, and my spirit is healed. Amen.
INTENTIONAL EXERCISE:
Preparing for the Journey…..
Pick a quiet spot and a time each day to journal for 10–15 minutes. Bring your journal, stay open, and be honest. Let it be your meeting place with God. This simple exercise will prepare you for the 6-week Soul Ink journey.
DAILY JOURNAL PROMPTS:
DAY 1: How do I feel about journaling right now—excited, unsure, distant?
DAY 2: When was the last time I felt truly heard—even by myself?
DAY 3: What am I afraid will come out if I keep writing?
DAY 4: What kind of relationship do I want to build with my journal and with God?
DAY 5: What parts of me have been silent for too long?
DAY 6: Reflect on a past moment journaling helped you find clarity.
DAY 7: What do I want to learn about myself in the next 6 weeks?
SCRIPTURES FOR MEDITATION:
• Psalm 62:8 – “Pour out your heart before Him…”
• Lamentations 3:19–23 – “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope…”
• Proverbs 4:23 – “Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
